Commercial Pilots Licence

 

A commercial licence allows you to work as a pilot for hire or reward within New Zealand

To obtain a CPL you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Hold a current Class 1 Medical Certificate

  • Pass six CPL theory exams:

    • Principles of Flight 

    • Aviation Law

    • Air Navigation and Flight Planning

    • Meteorology

    • Aircraft Technical Knowledge

    • Human Factors

  • Complete at least 200 hours of flying time, including at least: 

    • 100 hours solo flight time 

    • 10 hours instrument time

    • 10 hours cross-country navigation flying

  • Complete a CPL flight test with a flight  testing officer.
