Two active runways, one sealed vector (700m) and one grass vector (575m) allow students to become accustomed to both type
of surfaces.

There are no landing fees for Kaikoura Aero Club pilots and because the airfield is not situated in a control zone there
are no airways charges.

The training areas are close to the airfield so time in transit is minimized and training time is used fully.

Mountains in excess of 8000ft are within 15 minutes of flying providing an ideal opportunity for students to experience mountain flying.

C-150A - Cessna 150 Aerobat
This is a two seater training aircraft which is fully aerobatic. With a 100 hp engine it cruises at 80 kts and is utilised for the majority of students training up to their PPL.
PA-28-181 - Piper Cherokee Archer
This is our Piper Cherokee Archer four seat aircraft with a 180 hp engine, it cruises at 120 kts and is utilized mainly for whale watching and cross-country flying before and after obtaining the pilot license.
